Free Things To Do On Long Island, NY
Since moving to Long Island, NY from California almost 6 years ago, I went through a phase where we only stayed indoors. We didn’t go out much, not only did I not know the Island, but we had just left the Military and funds were low. I started driving around and asking locals about the Free Things To Do On Long Island, NY. It wasn’t until these past two years that I really started exploring, and we have loved it since!
One big thing to keep in mind is Libraries. Suffolk and Nassau Counties offer kids’ reading programs, with incentives to get kids excited about reading.
Beaches – Obviously the first destination on any Long Island list is going to be the beach!
We have spent our Summers here since moving from California, our favorite Beaches are Robert Moses and Jones Beach!
Museums – Bank of America has a “Museums on Us” program where several museums throughout the state (and country) offer free admission to cardholders, during the first full weekend of every month.
Bailey Arboretum – Located on the North Shore, Bailey Arboretum is a breathtakingly beautiful 42 acre property. It’s open to the public 7 days a week, buy klonopin online cod year round, with no admission or parking fees.
Brookhaven Laboratory – Summer Sundays at Brookhaven Lab are awesome. Special activities are available for both adults and children, and best of all… it’s free!
Lake Ronkonkoma Historical Society – Take a tour of the Lake Ronkonkoma historical museum, open every Saturday from 10AM til 2PM. Check out some photos before your trip.
Disney Store – Free Summer Play Days are for kids ages 3 and up. Store events take place every day in the summer, and include the Art of Animation, Story Time, and more.
Bowling – Kids Bowl Free is a wonderful program. Kids receive two free games of bowling every day, all summer long. This is a great indoor activity to keep everyone in the family busy for a few hours. Check locations to see which ones are near you.
Concerts – Take a look at this list of free concerts. Keep in mind most free concerts are outdoors with no specific seating, so it’s best to bring some fold-up chairs, or blankets and pillows. Don’t forget the snacks!
Lowe’s Build and Grow Clinic and Home Depot Kids’ Workshops are both fun for younger kids (they say ages 5-12 but the younger ones really enjoy it, as well as my 16 & 14 year olds that have attended). Check your local Home Depot and Lowe’s for exact days and times.
