With having 6 kids, you must know that I have plenty of embarrassing and funny stories, but like everyone; I have a favorite.
It was 14 years ago, my oldest daughter was a baby; 7 years after my first-born (which makes me almost a first time Mommy again).
My In-laws had come to visit us, I had the baby all dressed up in a pretty dress; it was the second time they were seeing her. After an exhausting afternoon time with her Grandparents, she needed a nap, so Grampa offered to go feed her and put her down for her nap. As a Mommy of a newborn I was a bit worried when Grampa hadn’t returned after over 30 minutes, so I went to go check on them. The sight I saw was to this day, one of the sweetest things ever; picture Grampa curled up on the bed with the baby in her best dress. I ran and got my Husband, Mother in law, and took a picture. It was always one of my favorite pictures of her and one of the sweetest memories of her and her Grampa; with whom to this day has a super close relationship with AND UNFORTUNATELY; that beautiful picture was lost in our house fire. The funny and embarrassing part?
When we woke up Grampa by moving the baby over, he let out a bit of a scream and we all looked towards where he was looking…
The back of the baby. Apparently the formula we had just switched her too didn’t agree with her belly and “it made the most dramatic exit in history”. All the way up to her hair, on Grampa; it was SO embarrassing AND funny!
I can tell you that as a new Mommy, I would only buy the most “popular” diapers, they weren’t Luvs. After that, she had a few more accidents and we switched from diaper brand to diaper brand trying to find one that would do the job better than she did.
We went through literally every brand we knew of, from all the major brands to the most generic dollar store brand. As far as cartoon characters on the diapers, I did love a different major brand, but as far as having the perfect fit for my baby; AND being able to stop the leaks? It was definitely “the purple brand”; Luvs.
The Firemen were in fact able to save a handful of pictures, and this is one of them:
This day I had a few Doctor appointments, and my Brother and Mother offered to watch her. She had already soaked through 2 outfits and my brother dressed her in her emergency p.j’s while they washed her outfits. She had also wet 2 of his blankets. So in trying to save his bed from being soaked, he made her a make-shift bed of blankets on top of his bed. When he went to go check on her during her nap, he saw her and heard her laughing in her sleep. He always had a camera near by, and snapped this picture because he said I wouldn’t believe it.
Do you see the dark shadow section right above her head?
She wet the blanket, all the way above her head!
He said he realized why she was laughing…

I fell backwards into our tree last year

my most funny holiday mishap was When we were married for 7 years we bought our first house. We took my moms very old gas stove to save money, and invited 35 ppl over for Thanksgiving dinner. I got a 35 lb fresh turkey, stuffed and put in the the oven. After more than 8 hrs, it was still cold! The stove was broken. Everyone was starving, so i served PB&J. Folks STILL wont come for Thanksgiving at my house! LOL

It wasn’t funny at the time but we were driving to the in-laws for Christmas Dinner – we were 5-10 mins into our trip and discovered that we left one of the kids at home.

The cat jumped in the tree and it fell over!

A few years ago I had made Thanksgiving dinner for our family. Our family consists of myself, my husband and our 12 children. The turkey had just finished cooking and I put it on the counter to cool while we all sat in the family room to talk. The cats took this as the perfect invitation to chow down on most of our turkey and no one wanted what was left of course. Very frustrating and embaressing . We ate the side dishes but had to fill up on desserts that year.

I had my in-laws’ Christmas tree fall on top of me while I was reading a book; my in-laws were more concerned about the tree than about me; they didn’t even ask if I was okay!

When my youngest daughter was 18 months old I caught her giving her sippy cup to my sister’s dog! It made for an adorable picture and we always laugh about it now.

One year we (SANTA) got one of the kids a hamster for Christmas, and on the way home it chewed its way out, in the car. WE NEVER FOUND IT!!!

Broken ornaments from knocking the tree over. Now I just tie a string around the tree and hook it to the wall.

Funny mishap from this year. My mom wrapped my kids presents all at the same time and put tags on after.. needless to say she gave the wrong gift to the wrong child. Whoopsie. It was comical.

Christmas after the kids were done opening everything, I realized a few gifts were missing and then it hit me I forgot to put out some of the presents I had hidden in a closet, lol
laurie murley says
last year i dropped a whole pecan pie in the floor right before i was suppose to leave to go to my moms, everyone wanted some of that pie
MaryAnn says
When I was a kid my brother used to poke holes in all of his presents to see what he got. One time my parents asked him about it and he said it wasn’t him. My mom said so someone else just happened to poke holes in all the presents with your name on them.

A few years ago I bought a bunch of gifts for my nieces and nephews. I accidentally labeled the gits wrong so all the kids opened the wrong gifts.
Melissa Dealmeida says
A funny thing that happened to our family this year is our homemade pretzels fail. We decided to make chocolate covered pretzels to hand out to family and friends that didn’t turn out so well. I burned my finger pretty good and there was so much chocolate on each pretzel rod that you almost broke your tooth when you bit into it lol!
rebretta says
We bent the bottom of the tree trying to get the topper on. The tree leaned one way all during the holidays. Had to cut it off 6 inches to fix it.
veronica hay says
I was in Walmart and some of their ornaments said “unbreakable” I hit it against another one and they both shattered!!
