There are no words to describe the storm that is brewing in my heart right now.

I came across a tweet from a fellow parent of an Autistic child, and I just had to share with you what I am so hurt and upset by:

“The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children,” said Marshall, a Republican.
“In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord. There’s a special punishment Christians would suggest.”

Yes, as a blogger I know that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but when you refer to MY/OUR child(ren) to as “God’s Punishment” that is a whole different ballgame.
No, I have never had an abortion, and I do not judge women who have, but in no way does ANY action condone that statement!!!

Late Monday, his office released a formal apology.

Addressing the story that his office said had “conveyed the impression that I believe disabled children are a punishment for prior abortions,” Marshall explained:”No one who knows me or my record would imagine that I believe or intended to communicate such an offensive notion. I have devoted a generation of work to defending disabled and unwanted children, and have always maintained that they are special blessings to their parents. Nevertheless, I regret any misimpression my poorly chosen words may have created as to my deep commitment to fighting for these vulnerable children and their families.”

Yes, his office apologized for this, as a mother, your apology is just a way to mop your mess up, 99% of speeches are pre-written which gives me the impression that you knew what you were going to say, and decided to say it regardless of who it hurt.  The apology is not accepted on my behalf and it’s just a political clean-up move.  Though I am just one woman, I know my rage means nothing to him and or his staff, but in my own little blogworld, I made a HUGE difference by speaking on behalf of my BEAUTIFUL GIFT FROM GOD and the rest of our Family.

I apologize for this, but I HAD to vent.

I believe that ALL children are a Gift from God, and those children who have challenges make us smile just as much if not MORE than the “average” child.
